Children in schools have become content collectors and that often leads to failure. Sharing large amounts of information leads to functional illiteracy and that is what happens every day in schools. The school follows the assumption that it has to share as much information as possible and at some point the student will use it to put it into practice, that unfortunately in our society does not work; what works is that, of all that is learned it is put into practice; that is the biggest mistake of the school, that is why many entrepreneurs do not succeed, the school taught them to gather large amounts of information and then look for the opportunity to put it into practice. Children are constantly collecting information so they feel overwhelmed at some point; and because they are overwhelmed with so much knowledge they no longer do anything, many will choose to get a job that embodies the same ideology of the schools: one boss and many subordinates.
Here we will reveal the habits of poverty that your child is learning in school, how to educate children to be millionaires.
Nowadays few people are aware of the importance of educating children to be entrepreneurs, schools focus on teaching them to look for a job and compete to be rewarded with a job, after a hard learning. We do not intend to leave you with the idea that your child should not go to school, although you probably think that could be healthy, what we want is for you to be clear that your child’s education and personal success should not only depend on school; he or she will have to attend school and learn the basics, but learning to be successful in life and in his or her finances will have to be complemented with the motivation to put into action the concepts of financial education and personal development.
That said, we will mention bad habits learned in school:
Habit 1: those who get a job are successful, not those who improve their skills, clearly all students want to be successful and believe that they can be; but many times none of them have received any kind of education about it neither from their parents nor from the educational system, besides there are no courses that teach the basic principles and no structured courses about financial literature, so in schools children are being educated to be financially illiterate and to fail in life. All the skills related to business are being overlooked, skills that can also lead them to be successful people and contributors for a better future, and what is worse is that children are not only learning from the educational system, but also from politicians and the media; they have also been taught that the rich are corrupt and greedy, they have too much wealth and this must be redistributed.
Habit 2: money is not enough. This phrase can be hindering the personal growth of a child without us realizing it; a child is adaptable and very easy to internalize feelings when faced with a certain case, with this concept about money, your child will internalize the idea that it is very complicated to manage money and therefore depending on someone who manages it will be a better solution; it is for this reason that we see adults without the ability to make responsible financial decisions. The current model of teaching in schools can be defined as a totally dehumanized system, a system that tends towards homogeneity and whose mission is to build a series of identical children with the same knowledge. It is a selective and separatist system that chooses which children will go to university and which will have to make do with a precarious job; it focuses on imparting general knowledge, equal knowledge for all, forgetting the preferences of each person; it also insists on a strict and regulated education, where students must follow previously established rules; this raises another question: what educational environment are we offering children?
The way in which children are taught does not motivate them to learn, this system makes learning a tedious and routine process, and it has been demonstrated that everything we learn by force ends up being forgotten. Albert Einstein once said, «Everyone is a genius, but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life thinking it is stupid. So how to educate children to be millionaires. You don’t have to leave all the work to the school, you can educate children to become millionaires, first you have to teach them to be creative, creativity has helped many other people to have financial freedom. Being creative means experimenting with different ideas until you achieve amazing results. Creativity has produced the best works of art and has allowed us to build the businesses with the highest income. Children must generate thousands of ideas in their lifetime to have a better chance of success.
To be creative, encourage your child to do the following:
- Write down all the ideas they have
- Improve the ideas of others
- Spend time on something you’re passionate about
- Discover your most creative moment
- Surround yourself with the best people
- Living new experiences
To have a more creative child you must identify boring and unchallenging environments and take him/her away from those. Here are four strategies for developing that creativity and making your child an entrepreneur rather than an employee:
- Give them something to lead, even though leadership seems to be a quality you are born with, parents can do a lot to develop that characteristic; give them the responsibility of organizing simple activities such as planning family activities, tourist trips or making a list of the elements they should take to play in the park, this will teach them what it takes to be in front of a team.
- Make them feel comfortable with the risk, it is important to tell them that they can risk, that it doesn’t matter if things go wrong, they will be supported and will have more opportunities to try again; they have to understand that success generates some inconveniences, but failure doesn’t come short either, whoever avoids failure for fear of risk is avoiding success.
- Motivate them to ask, for many parents it is exhausting when their children question everything they see, why the dog barks, why the house is white, etc. But they don’t see that this is when their children develop the capacity to understand. Take advantage of these moments to talk to them about what success means to you, that way your child will build their own concept based on what you want to live or are already living.
- Encourage them to dream no matter how crazy the ideas they may come up with are, there is no point in overwhelming them with adult logic because it will only end up demotivating them; if your child wants to build the fastest car on the planet, don’t discourage him by telling him he can’t, instead buy him a science book, take him to an engineering museum or do anything that will further fuel his ideas and imagination; no matter how great an entrepreneur they become, instilling this kind of knowledge will make it easier for them to do whatever they do at work.
